Simon Pegg may star in Steven Spielberg's Tintin film with his Hot Fuzz co-star Nick Frost.

The actor told The Sunday Times that the Jaws filmmaker suggested he and Frost play the Thompson Twins when he visited the set of the 3-D motion capture movie.

"Steven's smoking a stogy, cap on head, like he's always been since I was a baby," recalled Pegg. "I shook his hand and chatted about films. He gave me the mo-cap (motion-capture) camera, and I had a play around with it. Then he said, 'Hey, maybe you and Nick Frost could play the Thompson Twins.' In Tintin. A Spielberg movie. To work with him is beyond..."

A report in the Los Angeles Times last Friday revealed that studio Universal had sidelined the Spielberg/Peter Jackson trilogy due to its spiralling budget.

Tintin, which was scheduled to commence production in October, will now seek financing from another studio.

Tintin Ink

I often wonder what people are thinking when they get a tattoo. Not that I have anything against tattoos. It’s more the question of how much meaning people put into the portraits, symbols, and visuals they choose to adorn their bodies. I started to wonder how many people have chosen Tintin characters for tattoos and found a website where people shared the, um, less than stellar work they’ve had done. If you want to honor Tintin, buy the books — or at least find a decent tattoo artist. Sheesh!

This one isn't bad, but the background is all wrong and it really should be in colour. The red is critical in making the rocket so unique.

What the...

OK, now the biggest problem with this one is that s/he used a sock (a sock!) as the reference and the image on the sock (a sock!!) is better. Why couldn't they use an image from one of the TWO BOOKS??!!! And this person totally punked out by making it so small. With an image as iconic as the rocket, it should have been at least 6 inches and placed somewhere more conspicuous.

Another terrible tattoo in a terrible location.

New Tintin Journal Needs Your Help

source: tintinologist.com
Later this year there will be a new publication for English-speaking Tintin fans: The Tintinologist will be a periodical containing essays, articles and reviews. It is hoped to be able to produce a new volume at least once every year, or even more frequently if demand is sufficient.

The idea is to publish something as close as possible to an ‘academic journal’ of Tintinology - rich in ideas, debate and originality, but a world away from pretension, sloppy scholarship and the same tired old arguments.

The new journal needs your submissions to make it work, so this is a general ‘call for papers’. If you have an idea for an article, send a synopsis to edcharlesadams[at]hotmail[dot]com. You could get the chance to appear in print, and add to the valuable body of scholarship dedicated to all things Hergé.

Tintin Museum To Open May 2009??

According to our Belgian source, the world's first Tintin museum is tentatively scheduled to open in Brusells, Belgium sometime in May of 2009. We have been invited to attend the opening as VIP's (natch) and are very interested to see what Moulinsart has managed to put together to honor Herge's creations. We have visited Tintin exhibits before - the most recent in Quebec City put on by the "Musée de la Civilisation" - and were impressed with the quality of the materials and attention to detail. The new museum should be nothing short of spectacular. We will obviously have more on this as we learn more.

ShopTintin.com Starts New Tintin Blog

New Tintin Blog Starts Today.

As fans of Tintin, and as owners of the largest English language online Tintin store outside Europe, we were a little frustrated and surprised at the fractured world of Tintin news and trivia. So, we finally decided to stop complaining and do something about it.

The idea of the Tintin Shop Blog is to find as much information about what's going on in the Tintinverse and share it with you. Besides consolidating what others have written, we will also share our own inside knowledge of the world of Tintin - being one of the largest Tintin retailers in the world does have its perks :-)

Thanks for stopping by and we hope you find this blog interesting and amusing.
